Thank you for your interest in volunteering with the Oklahoma City Public Schools (OKCPS) Foundation. Volunteers play a vital role in supporting OKCPS students and programs. To ensure the safety and success of all participants, please read and agree to the following Volunteer Disclaimer, Waiver, and Code of Conduct.
1. Eligibility & Background Check
Volunteers must be 18 years of age or older. Participation requires completion and approval of a current OKCPS background check. All volunteers must complete the OKCPS District Volunteer Application each school year: https://apps.raptortech.com/Apply/NTIwMjplbi1VUw==
2. Assumption of Risk
Some volunteer activities may include physical exertion such as standing for extended periods, climbing stairs, lifting up to 25 pounds, or interacting with students in mobile or on-campus settings. Volunteers voluntarily assume all risks associated with participation. By signing, you release the OKCPS Foundation, OKCPS, and their partners from liability for injury, loss, or damages arising from your volunteer work.
3. Confidentiality
Volunteers must respect student privacy and maintain confidentiality of all information. Volunteers are held to the same Code of Conduct standards as district staff and must comply with all OKCPS Board of Education policies. Volunteers may not take or distribute any photographs or videos of students at any point. Avoid discussing confidential student matters outside of official channels.
4. Professional Conduct
Volunteers represent the OKCPS Foundation and serve as role models for students. Volunteers must:
Be supervised by a district staff member while on campus.
Follow instructions from school principals, site coordinators, or other designated officials.
Sign in and out via the Raptor system and wear a volunteer badge.
Be reliable and notify site coordinators promptly if unable to attend scheduled sessions.
Complete any required training before interacting with students.
5. Volunteer-Student Interaction
Maintain appropriate professional boundaries at all times. Do not continue personal relationships with students outside school activities. Do not provide money, gifts, personal contact information, off-campus transportation, or medical treatment to students. Avoid being alone in a closed room with a student.
6. Appropriate Physical Contact
Safe gestures (handshakes, high-fives, shoulder pats) are acceptable. Any unwelcome or inappropriate contact is strictly prohibited. If a student touches you inappropriately, notify a staff member immediately.
7. Non-Discrimination & Safe Environment
Volunteers have the right to participate in a safe environment free from discrimination, harassment, and bullying. Volunteers who need guidance or support may contact the OKCPS Foundation for assistance. Volunteers must not discriminate against others based on sex, race, religion, disability, age, creed, color, national origin, sexual orientation, or marital status. Volunteers must not promote or discuss religious or political beliefs or solicit business or services.
8. Mandatory Reporting
Volunteers must immediately report any suspicion of abuse, neglect, sexual abuse, illegal activity, or unsafe behavior. Reports can be made to a staff member or via the OKCPS Hotline: (405) 587-STOP (7867).
9. Photography & Media
Volunteers may not photograph, record, or distribute images or videos of students at any point. Volunteers grant OKCPS Foundation permission to use photos or videos of themselves only for promotional purposes related to volunteer activities.
10. Discipline & Safety
Volunteers must not discipline students under any circumstances. In case of disruption or emergencies, notify the nearest staff member. Volunteers must follow school safety procedures (fire, tornado, lockdown, etc.) and respect all campus safety rules.
11. School Environment Standards
OKCPS campuses are non-smoking, drug-free, and weapon-free zones. The district and Foundation may suspend or revoke volunteer privileges at any time, with or without explanation.
12. Cultural Awareness
Volunteers are expected to respect all students and staff and embrace diversity in race, ethnicity, gender, religion, socioeconomic status, sexual orientation, and ability.
13. Volunteer Agreement
By signing below, I acknowledge that I:
-Have read, understood, and agree to comply with the OKCPS Foundation Volunteer Disclaimer, Waiver, and Code of Conduct.
-Will attend scheduled volunteer sessions and notify the appropriate contact if unable to attend.
-Will maintain confidentiality, professionalism, and safety in all interactions with students and staff.
-Will complete any required training before interacting with students.
-Understand that no photography or recording of students is permitted.
-Understand and will comply with all restrictions, including:
-No giving money or gifts to students
-No sharing personal contact information
-No off-campus transportation or medical treatment
-No promotion of religious, political, or commercial interests
-Understand that the OKCPS Foundation reserves the right to dismiss volunteers from the program at any time, without explanation.
